I resonate with your thouhts of that beautiful song “Kahan Hai?”. I particulrly admire the work of Dr. Sam Pitroda who tirelessly motivated and moblized thousands of young minds through out his life time for India’s development. Many of his high level accomplishments are not known to people, but he has made an excellent contribution not only to India but al of humanity in developing nations. His National Knowledge Commission agenda on education, health, and welfare is mind-boggling. I specially feel “Naz Hai Voh yahi Hai, Sam Pitroda!”.

@Shefaly: Agreed that its very “inspired” from a source but he has made it relevant and that is what really matters. Second apart from making it relevant, he put context into it. I have to respect him for that.

And thanks a ton for actually pointing out. Next time before I post, I need to do a more thorough research on the content.

That line ‘jinhe naaz hai Hind par woh kahan hain’ is from a song written by Sahir Ludhianvi, and filmed on Guru Dutt for the film Pyasa. That it appears in a new Indi-pop song is alright but when every second thing one reads, hears or watches is an unattributed ‘inspiration’ from something else, it is very difficult to stay focused on a metaphysical discussion.

I know of people to whom freedom or Independence day means nothing. I know of people to who being an Indian means nothing…but if you ask me, if I had to born a 1000 more times I would want to be born as an Indian. There is no other place in this world that I would rather be in this life or any life. That’s what being a free Indian means to me.

I think I am a proud Indian too. Though when I saw your list of worthy Indians, I cannot help but wonder if I will ever be able to give back as much as I have received from this country.

Voting, yes I’ll always vote. I won’t bribe. I don’t ever litter. But these things seem to insignificant in the larger scheme of things.

Jinhe naaz hai hind par woh yahaan hain. Magar shayad abhi woh jaantey nahin ki hind ke liye woh karein kya…
